hi hello! i'm forest, or rowan, whichever strikes your fancy, and i'm an extremely eclectic artist. as i promised darren on mastodon a few days ago, i'm here, and i'm excited to have a new forum to frequent, in this era of the death of social media!
in terms of my history with pokemon, i first learned about it when i was six years old. i think i first watched the last two episodes of the larvitar plot in master quest - i guess it's no wonder i love johto! - and the episode with the murkrow girl and ashachu (which had a normal effect on me). i didn't get my own game until third grade, when i exchanged a few dollars with a schoolmate who gave me his pokemon blue cartridge, which i then juggled with my sister until i obtained pokemon red some year or two later from an aunt of ours.
when i was little, i absorbed pokemon fansites like a sponge in water. serebii, cave of dragonflies, valley of eons/valley of nightmares, marilland, eevee's hq... the list goes on! i guess it's no wonder that my current website has the same three-column format found on those fansites! i even ended up naming my website "swifty's hq" as an homage to eevee's hq.
while i've always liked pokemon, i think i was kind of a hermit in terms of fandom! reading fanfic.net stories back in the day on occasion, or looking at fanart on deviantart, or trying to play roms of games that hadn't come out yet in the states... i think the most i've been involved was when i dinked around on the nuzforums a few years ago, but i never did make my own comic...
anyways, thank you very much for having me! i hope to stick around!
