Z-A leaked a few days ago, and as much as I try to quarantine myself away from spoilers, it's pretty much impossible unless you just don't use social media.

This is somewhat tangential from the full topic, so if it warrants another thread that's fine, but I have grown to hate "leaker culture" in general. I used to be in the camp that so long as things were properly contained and no one who didn't want to know got spoiled, it was okay. In recent months though, I think I've shifted on that. The whole culture surrounding leaking future stuff is pretty toxic. Ignoring the legality (which is doing a lot of heavy lifting already), the idea of sitting around and waiting for someone to break into something, spam the results as fast as possible, and profiteer from it of all things, seems like it encourages bad behavior.

Man, it's three days away. Can't you savor the anticipation just a bit longer?

I've poked my nose a little into the leaks, but my goal was primarily to see what is up with the starters and nothing else. Took a little bit of collateral damage as a result, but nothing overtly drastic, and now I know what's up.
My choice hasn't actually changed, in the end. I opted out of Tepig because I want a Delphox, and I've not really been that fond of Totodile. That left Chikorita, who I have neutral opinions on (it's cute I guess, so that's something it has going for it).
Knowing what happens with them (which I will not spoil, not even a spoiler tag) hasn't really swayed my choice in any meaningful way. I might not even use the starter in the long run, I'm not beholden to the idea.

I don't know if any of you plan your teams out, but I'd be interested to hear what's caught your attention so far. I don't plan, but I do really want Mega-Victreebel on my team at some point.

I have ideas for possible team members, especially now that Z-A has restricted the one mega per battle rule.
The launch event Gardevoir interests me, not only because it's an absolute favourite Pokemon of mine, but because I feel it's tied to Diantha in some capacity, like the one you could get from her as a trade in XY's postgame.
Mawile is a Pokemon I've always considered, but never did when it was actually viable with its mega, so I'm certain to correct that this time. I definitely also want to try out mega Hawlucha after its announcement.

it's weird to say this, since legends arceus is in my top 3 spinoffs and maybe top 3 pokemon games of all time, but i am just..... not really interested in Z-A? ever since i was a puppy, i was always more fixated on the non-battle activities trainers do; legends arceus focused on pokedexmaxxing, which i always wished was more fleshed out in the main series (there was no reason to catch more than one of a species unless you were going for living dex), and, imo, despite being "open world", it feels much more like each area was separate levels with a delightful amount of detail in each.

Z-A's focus on battling others doesn't interest me nearly as much. nothing the trailers have shown has really gotten me curious, either, though i will say the day/night thing is pretty novel, even if it doesn't do anything for me specifically. i'll be interested in seeing some gameplay once the game is actually out, but i won't be getting it at launch, or anywhere near that, LOL

I plan on going to a Gamestop midnight release tonight! I'm really hoping people who have seen the leaks don't spoil it for others there in-person; I've gotten so close without many spoilers!!

kathy That would be truly awful, and you have every right to catch them in a Poké Ball and store them in your PC for all eternity

I've been charged for my copy but nothing has dispatched yet. Apparently it's coming Friday, but I guess we will see?

I normally like to get physical copies of my Pokémon games, but with a kid who gets distressed if I'm not there for a little while, I think I might just buy it on the eShop tonight. Should have a fair amount of time to play since I'm on maternity leave and it's easy to do it with a kid on top of me! I'm excited to see what it's like.

Dragonfree Totally fair, and for the most part I always go digital with it saving physical space but Pokemon is a special case because I am a save file hoarder. Having a cartridge makes it so much easier to play it across systems and profiles. Digital downloads do have the benefit of faster load times when put on system memory too and you play it immediately when it drops Sometimes earlier if you change your account location.
I got PLA digitally at launch because it wasn't two versions and I kind of regret it LOL, but the upside with waiting to buy physical is it allows you to get a later cartridge revision with updates and DLC on the cart itself.

My copy shipped earlier this morning, so I should have it around tomorrow lunchtime. Good thing Thursdays (and Fridays) are days I don't work. I much prefer physical to digital wherever possible, and on Switch 2 with the lingering threat of game key cards, conserving storage space on the system while it lasts is a must, especially while SD Express is so expensive...

I've been extremely wary of the devs hiding my only favourite Mega evolution (see my avatar) from preview footage and I'm ready for call them out if I do encounter it in-game. It launches in Japan tomorrow and I may stop by Edion to buy the physical copy and maybe a free gift after work.

Z-A went live on the Australian eShop a few hours ago, so we're now in the stage of natural spoilers, no longer related to any leaks.
Genuine information is now effectively out there, so for people still waiting on the game, be cautious.
