What's your favorite Pokémon merch you own?

As Pokémon fans, I'm sure we all have a fair bit of merch! And likely one that may be a little more special than the rest, for their own reasons.

What's your favorite piece of Pokémon merchandise you own? Does it have any special significance, or is it your favorite just because?

It's not a lot, but I have a nice little row of plushes on top of my game shelf.

I don't have nearly as much merch as I did in junior high, but I kept my two most favorite TCG cards: Dark Raichu from the Team Rocket set and a Japanese Lugia from Neo Genesis. Not only do I just think they're lovely cards, but my dad bought them for me to cheer me up when I was in the hospital, so they have sentimental value. I think someday I'll give them to my niece (when she gets old enough that I feel like she won't accidentally lose them or trade them away), but for now they're decorating my bookshelf.

tkarispe I have both of these cards you mentioned! Dark Raichu I picked up from eBay for about £3 many years ago, and the Japanese Neo Genesis Lugia a friend very generously gave me, as he had multiple!

I think it's lovely to have a plan for where your cards will go, I personally don't think i'd ever get rid of them.

This is absolutely adorable. Do you know what merch line it comes from or anything?

As for myself, I actually don't collect a whole lot of merch, I just don't have the finances to be doing that sort of thing. However, I have a Quagsire plushie that is incredibly near and dear to my heart. It's from the Comfy Friends line of plushies. The thing is, she's not really very presentable anymore... I've been cuddling her nonstop for upwards of four years and she is incredibly worn at this point. "To be loved is to be changed" as they say.

Honorable mentions go to my Worlds 2023 Lapras & Pikachu plush, mostly because a friend picked it up for me in person while in Japan so it's sentimental to me, and my Japanese Pokémon Crystal cartridge, which is the only language version of Crystal to have Suicune's head crystal visibly printed on the motherboard on the back. I don't really know if the latter counts as merch though lol

The funny part is, I think she was less worn back then! Still worn, but she's had double the time to become even more worn since 2023.

I got a fair amount of Pokémon merch, but if I had to pick some of my favorites, here's what comes to mind;

My Chikorita Green Pokémon Mini, and all five games I have for it- all the games that came out for it that made it outside of Japan. It's not something I play super often, but it's a fun little distraction every so often. I actually completed every level in Pokémon Pinball Mini, too. And Pokémon Tetris is cool- you can shake the system to flip the block to its mirror image, which is huge for the asymmetrical ones.

My two Weezing Sitting Cuties. The one on the left has gold skulls and crossbones, which is how they came out in the initial run. And then they changed them to have silver skulls and crossbones, so once I learned of that, I went and bought another one. Should give you some sort of idea of how much I love my favorite Pokémon. 🙂

MissingnoMaster I love that you like Weezing! Do you consider it a popular Pokémon with fans? I personally feel like its less spoken about these days, which is crazy when you consider how it was one of Team Rocket's original Pokémon and was in almost every single episode back then!

I'm a fan of Grimer myself, the poor boy is overlooked far too often. I even bought a plush of him recently because I wanted to low key wanted to own one! He sits on top of my bookcase at the moment, along with Natu and a couple of vintage plushies I bought recently.

Darren I don't think I see Weezing being especially popular with a lot of fans. I know it's gotten a fair amount of popularity with the competitive crowd because of Neutralizing Gas, and even then, from what I've seen, they tend to prefer Galarian Weezing for that because Poison/Fairy is just good typing. Also, that form gets Defog, which thanks to Neutralizing Gas can actually work against Gholdengo to clear out entry hazards- Good As Gold makes Gholdengo immune to status moves, and between that and its Steel/Ghost typing, it's immune to every method of entry hazard removal in existence.

Also, I respect the Grimer love. Grimer and Muk hold a special place in my heart even if Weezing is my all-time favorite.
