Which generation do you feel has the best starter Pokémon?

We've got nine whole generations of main series games now! That's a lot of starter Pokémon.

Which generation do you personally feel has the best trio of starters?

There’s usually one per generation where I just don’t care for the design. But they’re all pretty cute in Gen 5, so I’d probably go with with. At least going by the first stages.

Going to sound biased but I really like generation two. I can't even pick generation seven with Rowlet my beloved, because Popplio exists 🙁

And I'm going to be controversial and say nine.
Seriously, they are so well tied to the region they're from, they each have fantastic designs and theming, they're actually all good in some respect (many generations have at least one dud, but no, they're all good here) and also Meowscarada exists (OK, did get biased at the end there).
I'd probably say generation seven after that, as Incineroar just carries the whole thing single handed whether you like it or not. He's here to stay, he's here to dominate, he's here to Intimidate/Parting Shot.

Definitely generation 2, I love all three including their evolutions. All other generations have at least one I don't like that much.

Gens 2 and 5 are the games where I have the hardest time picking a starter because I love all three so much all the way through their evolution lines! I've used all of those starters at least once and really enjoy all of them either in-game or designwise a lot. 3 and 4 are probably next for me. After that it's easier for me to pick a favorite for one reason or another-- or, for a couple gens, I don't super love any of the final evolutions so it's hard to pick for the opposite reason 😅

I honestly don't think they've ever topped Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. Charmander may be my favorite but they're all such good appealing little monsters with good appealing evolutions.
