Dragonfree a common complaint I have read, and one that I agree with. It was really making me not want to play.

The tutorial is really my only complaint so far. Since I got the leash taken off, it's been all gas no breaks though. There are some story beats that didn't do as much for me as others, but there hasn't been anything offensively bad. The art style's wonderful, and parkour feels fantastic.

I just hope Gen 10 is another reset of the formula while still keeping the heart and soul of Pokémon. And adding the ability to add facial hair to our player characters 😅

Nick15 Even though the protagonists are usually ten? I mean, I had facial hair (if you can call it that) at ten, but it would be a little strange.

I would say I'd have liked to see a little more context on Clemont's complete absence, maybe a little more exposition about how people are expected to earn a Voltage Badge during all this. Is there a temporary Gym opened up, and if so, why isn't it anywhere in Lumiose? Sure, Blaine relocated to the Seafoam Islands, but that's because the eruption wiped out the entire town. Lumiose is a big city- Clemont had options here!

That or adding the Koffing line to the game. This is unfortunately yet another origin mark my Weezing collection misses out on.

I finished the game and I think the only things missing in my opinion is:

-Daycares. this was an important part of every gen and I personally felt that they were a good way to shiny hunt. (we did get the shiny charm though...)

-More characters from the X&Y anime. this would've been great for all the nostalgia since I (and so many others) grew up on the anime (including X&Y) however, when I played the game, there was a shocking absence of old characters from the anime which I'm hoping the DLC will fix.

I sort of doubt characters from the anime would appear in the Z-A DLC, unfortunately; the anime is an adaptation of the games, not the other way around. Yellow was the sole exception as a game specifically made to reference the anime, but no game since has taken cues from the anime to my knowledge, including remakes of games that had already been adapted for the anime series.

Dragonfree completely agreed with this-- I really do not need the whole long animation every single cycle 😅 that was my biggest thing too

if i had to pick something else... itd be spoilers for the end/climax of the story:
i was actually really excited to climb the tower with floette?? after being teased with eternal floette since XY came out, getting to do The Climax Of The Game with her felt like such a cool moment. so your rival being like "actually nah i'm gonna do it anyway" was SO maddening to me. like yeah we got to fight the tower instead but i didn't think that was nearly as fun as climbing it would've been 😭 i was so irritated. and all your dialogue options are so nice and friendly about it, like, nah! we aren't friends anymore after that...!

and then with your rank A wish. i didn't really expect anything from it (actually, I expected the wish to be related to taming the tower, not come afterwards-- like help turn the pebble into zygardite or something idk). but then they did actually give us options... only for them to be fake options ? why?? lmao? and of course the one "real" option was the one i didn't care about. i am a dex completionist i only care about the pokemon i dont care about battling lol... why even give options if you're just gonna force me to pick the one thing i don't care about... :')

besides that ive enjoyed the game a lot but those writing decisions made me mad lol

I definitely have a lot of critiques about how the story was handled, too, and could go off on a rant. They did get more ambitious with regards to the spectacle of the climax, but storywise I think there's a really jarring sense that Taunie/Urbain was originally meant to be more complex and have a more interesting role there but then they backed out of it and left it kind of incoherent. The way Taunie acted about climbing the tower - insisting on a battle for who gets to climb the tower, her very specific character animation at the start of the battle making it look like this is the most important thing in the world to her, then insisting she be the one to go anyway when she loses, all make it look like she has some very specific meaningful private reason she's absolutely determined to be the one going up in the tower... but no, it turns out there's no real significance to that, other than that it means the endgame sequence can involve you not going up in the tower at all after the player has probably been anticipating they would this whole time. If they'd just meant to have Taunie climb the tower from the start, then they wouldn't have had to had this whole battle against her about it to begin with - they could've just written the story so that the decision Taunie climbs the tower and you try to find Zygarde was the plan from the start!

I thought for a bit that what they might be doing with that was that because of something involving Taunie's established dead mom and "looking for someone", she was determined to take control of the tower, to use it for some misguided purpose (revive her dead mom?), and she'd be the final boss, fighting against you using the tower's power. We even see her go up in the control room and put her hand on the control panel, as if she's about to be the one in control... but then no, we get no more cutscene from her point of view, just dialogue saying she's fine and Floette is protecting her and you should go find Zygarde. I thought she might be lying and trying to get us to just go as far away from the tower as possible so she could do her thing! But nah. All in all it would have been so much more interesting and I can't help but think it originally was more interesting and then they rewrote it clumsily.

Oof, there’s. So much I would change, even if keeping the core premise the same.

If I had to pick like one fundamental change, I suppose it would be giving me more access to my Pokemon’s movement. Actually controlling where the ‘cursor’ goes that directs them around, by holding down one of the shoulder buttons or something. The ambiguity of where they are going to use their attacks and no clear read on how long moves will take to cast etc. essentially saps any real strategy out of it for me.
