Figured I'd make a thread for discussing the (at the time of writing) current Pokémon anime, Pokémon Horizons! ...Which is just plain old Pocket Monsters (ポケットモンスター) in Japan, but is commonly referred to as "LikoRoy" (リコロイ) by fans to separate it from previous incarnations of the series.
I've never been that huge on the anime (though I have enjoyed the movies across time) but I was intrigued by Horizons because of the decision to finally have Ash retire his legacy and the character that was replacing him: a girl protagonist named Liko. I sincerely did not think I was going to become interested in the anime in any long-term way while sitting down to check out the first couple of episodes. I thought I was just going to see if the new girl was any good, then move on with my day and go back to not engaging with the anime a whole lot. Well, that's not what happened. The first three episodes of Horizons hooked me immediately with its focus on plot and the characterization of its new cast, and I have been watching the fansubs ever since.
I'm aware that some people are apprehensive about Horizons because they miss Ash, but I really do think Horizons is worth checking out, even if it doesn't end up becoming your thing. I mean, I didn't expect much, and look at what happened, lol. And I'm primarily an oldschool fan!
Feel free to discuss anything about Pokémon Horizons below, I just ask that plot spoilers, especially spoilers that haven't been released in the dub yet, are kept in spoiler tags. I am hoping that this thread might get some people interested in the anime if they aren't already, and I don't want that excitement to be spoiled by having the plot ruined for them in the same thread that got them interested... Especially considering that the bulk of Horizon's plot surrounds some mysterious circumstances that are meant to keep you intrigued for a long period of time.
