What was your first Shiny Pokémon?

A fun little thing to talk about! What was your first Shiny Pokémon in the games? What game was it, and do you still have it?

In Emerald, my first shiny was a common Shiny Zubat. I remember finding it in Victory Road, I think it was near the exit to the Pokemon League. I remember after Diamond came out, I used the Emerald Battle Tower cloning glitch to send a few Shiny Zubat to my Diamond game and I think I traded some away. I ended up losing my Diamond cart, but luckily because of the cloning glitch I still had it available in Emerald. I brought it up to Pokemon Home.

Around the same time, either me or my brother had found a Shiny Lunatone in Sapphire. I remember this distinctly because my brother has also mentioned it years later, but my brother asked me about the Lunatone and I said "Don't catch this Lunatone, we already have Lunatone in the box." In a few of the gen 3 games, there were dedicated boxes for my Pokemon and my brother's Pokemon so I think the Sapphire save file was a shared save.

Pretty sure it was a Rattata. I remember finding it in the Cinnabar Mansion. I probably don’t have it though. I used to make a bunch of silly rom hacks. Didn’t alter game mechanics like shiny rates or anything, it was just to edit the character sprites to play as specific characters I liked. And I lost most of those to an old computer crash.

Mine was a Nidoran M. Probably in Silver, since I actually got far enough in that one to encounter Shinies at all.

(Unfortunately, the cart battery is long dead, so I can't recover him or my other Pokemon.)

A Wooper for me! I accidentally knocked it out in Union cave with my Poliwhirl/Poliwrath which used Strength. I thought it would be fine! I remember the moment vividly, I was sat on my bed in my room when it happened and was in shock.

Despite playing hundreds upon hundreds of hours on Gold, Crystal and Sapphire, I never, ever saw a non-scripted shiny on any of them. The first shiny I ever saw was... a shiny Chansey in the Safari Zone on FireRed, which I baited a few times but still ran away because that's the nature of the Safari Zone.

The first one I actually caught was a shiny Gastly I found while EV training in Pokémon Tower and named Shining, also on FireRed - and the second I caught was also on FireRed while EV training, a Rattata whom I named Neil. I still find it very funny that I'd played three different games to death without ever seeing one and then encounter three shinies on the same game. I've continued to have that kind of shiny luck - the occasional game where I may find multiple shinies and others in between where I never see any. The most ridiculous was in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, where I somehow caught three shinies in the span of like twenty minutes.
