Are you a "Set Mode" or "Shift Mode" person?

The older games in the series had a feature in the Options called "Set Mode" or "Shift Mode" - the latter asked if you would like to switch your Pokémon out when a new one comes in on the opponent side, while the former did not. Which of these two do you typically prefer? Have you ever used the other mode, and when?

I've always played Pokémon where I've known what was coming next. I have been tempted to change this if I ever play through the games again in the future!

I've never known this setting existed until sometime within the last 10 years. As a kid when you go through the settings option, it's not intuitive what Set means or what Shift means or how it will affect what setting. I've always used the default option in games, whichever it was, Shift? The one where you're allowed to switch in a Pokemon before the opponent sends out another. I've never seen a reason to change the default setting. Handicapping yourself? Basically I'm a default setting person.

Depends on the mode. In single battles, shift, you can just spiral out of control with constant switches whittling your team down. But in doubles? Set is actually valid, you have more flexibility to make switches. It's no wonder that set doubles is the VGC standard.
