Between May 17th and July 31st, 2025, we asked Pokémon fans to vote for their six favourite Pokémon across nine different polls, each one representing the region they first appeared in. As the poll progressed, it went viral on YouTube and Tiktok, and was later plugged at the top of every page on Bulbapedia, allowing the poll to reach a significant number of fans. By the time the poll ended, the poll received a total of 582,516 votes, the highest of any unofficial fan poll ever conducted (according to my research).

The top ten Pokémon from the preliminary round of voting, were taken through to the Grand Final, which took place between August 14th and September 30th, 2025. This time, fans could choose three Pokémon. The total number of votes cast in our Grand Final were 24,828 (from 8,276 participants) .The final result of this poll were published on October 16th, 2025, and can be found here.
I wish to thank all of the communities and individuals who shared our poll once again, most notably Bulbapedia (and Bulbagarden) and PokéCommunity. They were fundamental in helping us reach such a huge number of fans over the past few months, during the preliminary rounds and our grand final. Of course, I also want to extend those thanks to the tens of thousands of you who voted over the past few months and discovered our little project as a result.
Finally, I have a message to Pokémon fans who may be disappointed that their favourites didn’t place where they wanted them to be: our poll is just one of many that have been conducted over the years, and it won’t be the last. No poll can invalidate the appreciation you have for your favourite Pokémon. I hope that we can all keep that positivity and love moving forward into Pokémon’s 30th anniversary and beyond.
