Ever failed to catch a shiny?

Want to hear JT people's experiences with this! Have you ever failed to catch a shiny Pokémon before? Maybe it fled, teleported from you, or used self-destruct, maybe you accidentally defeated it, or maybe you forgot to save your game? Or have you gotten all the ones you've seen, at least from what you remember?

Yes, the very first shiny I encountered was a Wooper in Union Cave in Pokémon Crystal. I recall using Poliwhirl's Strenth attack on it, thinking it would be weak enough, and it wasn't! I was so annoyed at myself.

I've gotten all the ones I've seen, but I always fear that I didn't notice a shiny, especially ones that don't look that different.

As a shiny hunter, plenty of times, though nothing quite as dramatic as the very first shiny I ever stumbled upon organically.
Picture this, going through Iron Island in Platinum, doing the section where Riley pairs up with you, and you bump into a shiny Golbat. Thank goodness, it can't explode like the Gravelers can...
But wait, Lucario is here. And it KO'd it...

I've always been careful enough on my own that I never miss catching one from a wild encounter!

Funny story though, I was playing with a younger family member, trying out multiplayer features in SV. You might know that the auto-battle feature will prevent your mon from battling shiny mons, as kind of an anti-frustration feature. However, the DLC just added the Synchro Machine, and they were having so much fun running around kicking stuff as Cinderace while I was checking out a Milcery outbreak...

It's hard to tell those little guys are shiny unless you look at their eyes, but I did confirm it right as it disappeared from the map :')
